´óÏóÊÓƵProvides Updated Data on U.S. Health Systems
´¡±á¸é²Ï’s Compendium of U.S. Health Systems, the first publicly available database to track trends in health system affiliation and consolidation over time, has been updated to include data from 2020 and 2021. Data on 635 U.S. health systems and hospitals—now available for 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2021—may be used by policymakers, health system leaders and researchers to analyze the changing healthcare landscape or measure the growing influence of systems. The Compendium contains provider-level data that can be easily linked to other data sources to facilitate systems research. The Compendium is a product of ´¡±á¸é²Ï’s Comparative Health System Performance Initiative, developed to explore how healthcare delivery systems promote evidence-based practices in delivering care. Access the Compendium as well as a Health Affairs on the updated resource. Register for an ´óÏóÊÓƵwebinar on July 12 from noon to 1 p.m. ET. to learn more.

Improving Healthcare Safety by Enhancing Health Information Technology and Health Information Exchange (PDF, 953 KB) is the second in a series of ´óÏóÊÓƵpublications that summarize the agency’s investments in patient safety research as a pathway toward safer care. Research has shown that health information technology (HIT) and health information exchange (HIE) make it possible for healthcare providers to safely and securely access and share information about a patient’s health, such as patient history, vital signs, diagnoses, medications and disease progression. Since 2000, ´óÏóÊÓƵhas supported 42 patient safety projects related to HIT and HIE. This new publication summarizes ´¡±á¸é²Ï’s investments in this promising pathway toward better care, including examples of project findings and products, collective outputs and impacts of this work.
