´óÏóÊÓƵSafety Program for Telemedicine
About This Project
The ´óÏóÊÓƵSafety Program for Telemedicine will work directly with healthcare providers to ensure the appropriate use of antibiotics when providing care through telemedicine. These efforts will be supported by evidence-based guidance and implementation strategies based in AHRQ’s Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program aimed at developing a culture of patient safety and improving communication and teamwork between providers, staff, and patients.
Participating practices will receive information about evidence-based patient safety practices, individualized expert coaching, and technical assistance from physician subject matter experts in the following areas:
- Understanding the science of safety and how it applies to antibiotic use.
- Improving teamwork and communication.
- Designing and implementing interventions to improve antibiotic use within a telemedicine setting.
Tools and resources used and lessons learned by participants in this 4-year project will be compiled into a toolkit, allowing other providers to improve antibiotic stewardship in telemedicine.
